Secondary Onychomycosis Development after Cosmetic Procedure-Case Report
The authors describe the unusual case of subungual onychomycosis, due to fl uconazole and itraconazole resistant Candida albicans after using the hybrid and acrylic lacquers and nail tips. The etiology of these atypical changes was supported by isolation of the fungus from the nail lesions, and its consistent identifi cation by means of morphological and molecular diagnosis. In the presented case, topical treatment with ciclopirox 8% nail lacquer allow to fi ght the pathogenic fungus but did not restore the natural appearance of the nails.

The research material comprised the meat samples (25g each) collected from three snail species, i.e. Roman snail (Helix pomatia — HP), small brown garden snail (Cornu aspersum aspersum — CAA) and large brown garden snail (Coma aspersum maxima —CAM).
Microbial biodiversity of meadows under different modes of land use: catabolic and genetic fingerprinting (2017)
The main goal of the study was to find differences in the bacterial community structure resulting from different ways of meadow management in order to get the first insight into microbial biodiversity in meadow samples. The next generation sequencing technique (454-pyrosequencing) was accompanied with the community level physiological profiling (CLPP) method in order to acquire combined knowledge of both genetic and catabolic bacterial fingerprinting of two studied meadows (hayland and pasture).
Benefits of flavonoids and straw mulch application on soil microbial activity in pea rhizosphere (2017)
The importance of flavonoids in rhizosphere–legumes symbiosis has been recognized as critical. However, the limited data are available about their impact on soil microbial communities. In rhizosphere, it remains unclear whether flavonoids, mulch or their joint effects influence on soil microbial diversity and enzymes activity.
Efficient Cellulases Production by Trichoderma atroviride G79/11 in Submerged Culture Based on Soy Flour-Cellulose-Lactose (2017)
The microbiological hydrolysis of lignocellulose waste materials, using enzymatic biopreparations and its anaerobic processing, is a promising strategy for the efficient use of renewable energy sources. This article presents the optimization of microbiological media to improve cellulase production by Trichoderma atroviride G79/11 for further application as a cellulolytic biopreparation. The characterization of T. atroviride phenotypic microarrays was performed using the Biolog® PM plates approach.
Microbial functional diversity and enzymatic activity of soil degraded by sulphur mining reclaimed with various waste (2017)
The aim of the study was to evaluate microbial functional diversity based on community level physiological profiling and b-glucosidase activity changes in soil degraded by sulphur mining and subjected to reclamation with various waste. The experiment was set up in the area of the former ‘Jeziórko’ Sulphur Mine (Poland), on a soilless substrate with a particle size distribution of slightly loamy sand.
Microbial community diversity and the interaction of soil under maize growth in different cultivation techniques (2017)
Soil microbial functional diversity under maize grown in different agricultural management practices was determined using the Biolog EcoPlates and other microbial and biochemical methods. Comparisons of substrate utilization and the diversity indices showed differences in community composition of microorganisms related to different cultivation techniques and seasons.
Comparison of Chemical Sensitivity of Fresh and Long-Stored Heat Resistant Neosartorya fischeri Environmental Isolates Using BIOLOG Phenotype MicroArray System (2016)
Spoilage of heat processed food and beverage by heat resistant fungi(HRF) is a major problem for food industry in many countries. Neosartorya fischeri is the leading source of spoilage in thermally processed products. Its resistance to heat processing and toxigenicity makes studies about Neosartorya fischeri metabolism and chemical sensitivity essential. In this study chemical sensitivity of two environmental Neosartorya fischeri isolates were compared.
Functional Diversity and Microbial Activity of Forest Soils that Are Heavily Contaminated by Lead and Zinc (2016)
The objective of this study was to assess the impact of metal contamination on microbial functional diversity and enzyme activity in forest soils. This study involved the evaluation of the influence of the texture, carbon content and distance to the source of contamina- tion on the change in soil microbial activity, which did not investigate in previous studies.
Linking Microbial Enzymatic Activities and Functional Diversity of Soil around Earthworm Burrows and Casts (2016)
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of earthworms (Lumbricidae) on the enzymatic activity and microbial functional diversity in the burrow system [burrow wall (BW) 0–3 mm, transitional zone (TZ) 3–7 mm, bulk soil (BS) > 20 mm from the BW] and cast aggregates of a loess soil under a pear orchard. The dehydrogenase, β-glucosidase, protease, alkaline phosphomonoesterase, and acid phosphomonoesterase enzymes were assessed using standard methods
Fast and Accurate Microplate Method (Biolog MT2) for Detection of Fusarium Fungicides Resistance/Sensitivity (2016)
The need for finding fungicides against Fusarium is a key step in the chemical plant protection and using appropriate chemical agents. Existing, conventional methods of evaluation of Fusarium isolates resistance to fungicides are costly, time-consuming and potentially environmentally harmful due to usage of high amounts of potentially toxic chemicals.

Fourteen Ganoderma lucidum strains from different geographic regions were identified using ITS region sequencing. Based on the sequences obtained, the genomic relationship between the analyzed strains was determined.
Soil microbial functionality in response to dairy sewage sludge and mineral fertilisers application under winter rape (2015)
Microbial activity and the diversity of their catabolic potential would be stratified according to soil profile as a result of differing content of soil organic C and they would be altered by applying dairy sewage sludge (DSS) to the surface and subsequently ploughing. We applied 26 Mg ha -1 of DSS and the same nutrient dose of mineral fertilisers as an NPK reference to the soil before sowing winter rape (Brassica napus) in the field experiment.
